One of the things I love about jewellery is how it has the power to elevate any outfit! I like to incorporate bold statement pieces that become the focal point of the outfit. Now, let's dive into what to think about when styling different pieces of jewellery.
These are my 4 guidelines I follow when incorporating jewellery into my outfit.
Choose a Colour Scheme
When styling jewellery, I believe that colour is a large factor. I often coordinate my colourful jewellery with other accessories like bags, shoes, and headscarf's.
In my latest collection 'Generations in Focus', I incorporated vibrant cord for the pendants to infuse my pieces with a burst of colour. When styling one of my necklaces, the use of red chord harmonizes well with other subtle red accents throughout my outfits.
Shape and Form for Each Attire
When it comes to styling jewellery, Shape and Form play a large role. Personally, I tend to choose either an Organic or Geometric theme when styling jewellery. For instance, when styling my pendants, I use their circular shape as a consistent motif across my outfits. I frequently pair these pieces with clothing featuring similar patterns, allowing the jewellery to establish a cohesive pattern.
Combinations of the Material and Fabric
Understanding the right combinations of materials for your jewellery and outfits is crucial. Considering both the jewellery's material and the outfits fabric is key. For instance, I find that pearls complement lace nicely due to their delicate and elegant nature. Gold or Silver jewellery pairs well with intricate clothing, whereas I prefer to style my acrylic pieces with more minimalist materials.
Identify the Time Period
When thinking about my outfits, I often draw inspiration from different historical periods, and I like to match my jewellery to these eras. Personally, I believe that acrylic and colourful jewellery (like my pieces from my collection 'Generations in Focus') complement the fashion of the late 1900s (particularly the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s), as well as the early 2000s (Early Y2K Fashion); due to their bold colours. However, I think traditional materials like sapphires and pearls are more suitable for an early 1900s aesthetic, such as the 1920s. Therefore, try considering to coordinate your jewellery with the specific time period that influences your outfit when putting together your look, to have both the jewellery and clothing compliment each other.
Contemplating Fashion
To Conclude, clothing and jewellery really need to coincide. I believe neither is more important than the other, but they should both be used to enhance each other. I do this by thinking of the 4 guidelines of; colour, shape, material and the time period.

Finally I thought I would end by showing you a few contemporary jewellers I love. I think these are amazing contemporary jewellers and their pieces of jewellery are pieces you can style nicely with an outfit; using these 4 guidelines.
